Ingredients

Meat mixture:

Sauce:

  • 29 oz of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup onions chopped
  • 1 cup of mushrooms sliced
  • 1 cup pitted olives
  • 1 clove or 1 Tbsp of garlic minced
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 Tbsp of olive oil
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard (Recommended)
  • 2 tsp basil
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 3 oz or a 1 chopped sliced pepperoni
  • 1/2 chopped fresh parsley

The other ingredients

  • 1 media onion chopped
  • 2 bell peppers chopped
  • 1Tbsp of melted butter mixed with 1/2 Tbsp of garlic powder
  • French bread (enough for each serving/person)
  • 1/2 cup of BelGioioso Mozzarella Cheese for each Hot Dago

Directions

1st Step: Meat

Put all the items in a bowl mix till items are evenly distributed. Shape meat to the desired patty size. If they are too big they will have a hard time cooking all the way through. Cook the patties on a medium heated surface. Cook each side till there is no pink color. Make certain that the final product also has no raw meat in the middle.

2nd Step: Sauce

Put items in a pot at a medium temperature. Start with the liquid items first. Bring the liquid to a boil. Then add everything else. Stir in a pot for 17 to 20 minutes, and then serve.

3rd Step:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and begin assembling the Hot Dago. Cut the french bread to the length you want it. It should be brushed with melted garlic butter. Ingredients

  • 24 oz Ragu sauce (Recommended)
  • 4 1/2 pounds of ground pork
  • 1 1/2 lb hamburger
  • 1 1/2 cup Fresh mozzarella Cheese
  • 2 1/2 tbs black pepper
  • 2 1/2 tbs onion salt
  • 2 1/2 tbs garlic powder
  • 2 1/2 tbs oregano
  • 2 1/2 tbs McCormick Celery Salt (Recommended)

Directions

Add all the ingredients, except mozzarella and sauce. Mix thoroughly, but don’t overdo it.

Form into patties and cook on moderate heat until cooked. Cast iron is the best choice.

Sprinkle mozzarella on top and let it sit until melts.

Place on bread and then cover with sauce.

Make into thin oblong patties, then brown in the pan. Add patties as well as two cans large of spaghetti sauce into the slow cooker.

  • 2/3 tsp. oregano
  • 2/3 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 tsp. basil

Direction

Mix all the ingredients, excluding meat. Simmer until the mixture is cooked for 2 hours. Make patties using ground beef and sausage. Brown patties. Add sauce to them; allow to simmer for 2 hours.

Serve with pieces of French bread and sprinkle with chopped Mozzarella cheese.

Tips: Tomato sauce may be used in place of tomato puree.

  • 60 oz. can tomato juice
  • 3 lb. ground beef
  • 3 lb. ground Italian sausage (mild or hot)
  • 3 cans (6 oz. each) tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 qt. tomatoes (chopped in blender)
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Marshall’s sweet basil
  • 3 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 tsp. pepper
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese

Directions

Combine ground Italian sausage and ground beef together. Make patties and place them into a large baking pan. Mix tomatoes, tomato juice paste, salt sweet basil, pepper, and garlic. Pour over the patties. Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the patties for about an hour, or until done. Serve them on Vienna bread and garnish the top with Parmesan cheese and mild banana peppers.
