What Is Wagyu?

In The Japan:

Wagyu is one of the four Japanese breeds of cattle. In a variety of regions in Japan, Wagyu beef is transported with the area’s names. Matsusaka cattle, Kobe beef, Yonezawa beef, Mishima meat, Omi beef, and Sanda beef are only a few examples. In recent times, Wagyu beef has increased in fat content because of a reduction in grazing as well as an increase in the use of feed, which results in bigger and fatter cattle.

Four breeds are part of Wagyu: Japanese Black, Japanese Brown, Japanese Polled, And Japanese Shorthorn.

Japanese Black cattle account for 90% of all fattened cattle in Japan. Tottori, Tajima Shimane, Tajima, and Okayama are among the Japanese Black breeds. The other major breed is Japanese Brown, sometimes known as Japanese Red. Its strains comprise Kochi along with Kumamoto. Japanese Shorthorn is less than 1% of the animals in Japan.

In the United States:

Some Japanese Wagyu cattle are crossed with Aberdeen Angus cattle in the United States. The crossbreed has been dubbed American Style Kobe Beef and is also known under the name “Wangus”, although many American retailers (inaccurately) use the term Wagyu. Wagyu made its competition debut in 2012 at the National Western Stock Show. Other Wagyu breeders in the United States have full-blooded animals that are registered with the American Wagyu Association and are directly descended from the original Japanese bloodlines.

Wagyu Ground Beef Burger Recipe

It’s a great Wagyu Ground Beef Burger recipe that makes the most delicious homemade burger that you’ll ever eat. Ofttimes, I’m afraid of changing wagyu into anything different than the basic, tasty strips, with the addition of a little flakey salt. It’s sometimes refreshing to take something simple and make it into something truly unique.
